Marigolds smell like wet, dark earth,
and like secrets between friends.

Irises have a faint, sweet scent:
when you turn your head, it’s gone.

Wisteria waves its fragrance onto the wind,
alluring from miles and miles away

But my very favorite is the magnolia,
its wet, white cup overflowing with perfume.
